Action in Lindi

Sports Development Aid is not only acting in Mtwara but also in central Tanzania Singida and southeastern Tanzania Lindi where SDA was actually established only few months ago. While pupils were having examinations, I decided to have a short visit in Lindi with Krista. Lindi is a small, peaceful and nice town only 2 hours (or depending on the dalladalla driver) away from Mtwara. Comparing to Mtwara, Lindi was somehow more calm and cleaner town. There weren’t even that much traffic than in Mtwara (even though there’s not that much traffic in Mtwara either) and the center was just a small area with couple of peaceful roads around.

Anyway, Lindi’s staff has started working hard since it was established. Few seminars and a lot of activities has been done and more is coming all the time. Me and Krista, we participated one day in a sports field maintenance seminar which Lindi’s staff had organised for sports teachers. During the day, we learnt how to make field for the athletics and of course, how to do the athletics itself. In the end of the day, we had a short lesson about First Aid. It looked like the lesson was needed because the teachers didn’t have enough knowledge even about the basics.

On Saturday we woke up at 5.30 am and went to stadium to participate to Saturday morning jogging which was organised for the first time. Well, we were little bit worried if there was running or not at 6 am but as honest Finns, we went there to check. It was worth to go  - there were around 50 people ready for jogging and we joined them. How cool was that – a big group jogging around in Lindi in the early morning on Saturday! That could be organised officially also in Mtwara. Like I’ve told before, people have been interested in jogging with me in Mtwara. Well, I’m not sure if they’re just curious of jogging with mzungu or just interested in jogging itself..

Thanks to Lindi’s staff for hosting and good luck for the future activities!

Before ending, the latest home news:

The last two weeks I’ve been living with bibi (grandmother) and Sada. The man in the house has been ‘our brother’ Aziz who has been assisting us for the last two months. Mama got finally better and went Dar with baba. And Merina went back to Songea. One month left in Mtwara, don't know yet with whom I'll live the becoming weeks.. :)
